A photo of three Tawny Frog Mouth Owls. The front two owls are having a snooze and in that stance would blend-in into just about any Australian tree in the bush. The owl at the back is not too sure about me and my camera.

The following photos include the mighty Owl, a Kookaburra and a Fig Bird.

All of the photos were taken in late October 2006 in Ferny Hills, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

The photos of the Owls and the Kookaburra were taken in an outdoor aviary in a neighbours house (Len). The Fig Bird later on just appeared in my neighbours front yard getting a free feed from his Fig tree.

My neighbour Len provides a refuge for injured birds in our area and keeps them in aviarys in his back yard. I probably should say that his whole house is an aviary as he loves his birds so much.

My neighbours aim is to release healthy birds back into the bush. He also provides a sanctuary for the birds who just can't make it, in terms of them not being able to fly because of their injuries. He still keeps these birds in his aviarys and they are his mates. It's funny with the birds, even the healthy ones come back to his house to say "G'day" and scrounge a feed. I have even seen them jump on his shoulder. Magpies, Lorikeets, Storm Birds, Butcher Birds, Kookaburras, Tawny Frog Mouth Owls and even Barn Owls etc are his mates - he loves the lot of them.

Kath (my wife), the kids and I are just so happy about the birdlife neaby. Whenever we hear or see something strange flying around or roosting in our back yard we blame our neighbour Len who we reckon provided us all with the chance to see all these magnificant birds.

How good is the "dial" on this guys face hey? A beautiful Tawny Frogmouth Owl being rehabilitated at a neighbours house in Ferny Hills, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. There is just something about these birds that just makes them look so regal.

This beautiful Tawny Frogmouth Owl (complete with attitude) at my neighbours house during "The Owls" recuperation in the outdoor, walk-in aviary. This guy was pretty feisty and whenever I got tooooo close with the camera he just about wanted to tear my face off. He was quite a frightening little beggar. But it just goes to show ya, he is one of the "Powerful Owls" that live in my neighbourhood and we are all so priviledged to have these guy around.

Jerome the "Jacky" or should I say, a "Kookaburra". These guys are just the best birds to have around in Ferny Hills Queensland Australia or in anywhere else in Australia.
